Volvo working on airbags for the pedestrians you hit

Airbags are used to protect us in case we’re in an accident.

Well, Volvo is taking that idea and putting it on the outside. It doesn’t make much sense until you see videos like this.

Pedestrian-car accidents are all too common.

So the new Volvo v-40 has this airbag on the “outside” to help protect a pedestrian or cyclist if they’re hit.

The bags deploy when the car detects contact with a person. And it gets even fancier. Radar is also attached to the car!

If it senses the car is going to collide with someone, it’ll automatically apply the brakes.

If the driver doesn’t slam on the brakes, the car will stop on its own.

Good news for cyclist and pedestrians out there.
