Lawsuit App? iPhone may need to create an app for that! Parents are taking Apple to court for “manipulating” their kids into spending large amounts of real-world cash on virtual in-app objects, costing them a fortune.
They’re accusing Apple of enticing kids to spend money on iTunes while playing games like “The Smurfs’ Village”. For instance that game is free to download, but if the kids want to collect “smurfberries” it’s going to cost them, $99, and that’s green not blue money.
One parent knows about that all too well after their 8-year-old, Madison Kay, managed to rake up a $1400 bill on “smurfberries”.
