Experience News in a New Way
New Jersey mother is accused of putting her 5-year-old daughter in a tanning booth. No, it’s not Snooki, her name is Patricia Krentcil.
The 44-year-old mother has been charged with second-degree child endangerment. According to NBC New York, her daughter Anna suffered burns from her stint in the salon’s tanning bed.
Police arrested her after school officials reported that the kindergartner had a severe burn. Krentcil says tanning is her favorite hobby and she may even be addicted to it, but the mother of 5 would never expose her daughter to it. She tells CBS New York, it’s all a big misunderstanding.
Krentcil said when the school nurse asked her daughter how she got burned, she simply said, “I go tanning with mommy.” However, the mom said her daughter’s burn was not from getting into a tanning bed, but from being outside and playing in the backyard.
“She’s 6 years old. Yes, she does go tanning with mommy, but not in the booth,” Krentcil said.
Right now the little girl is in temporary custody with her father. State law prohibits anyone younger than 14 from tanning.
If found guilty, Krentcil may not see the sun for a long time.
Do you think the mother took her daughter tanning or is it a case of judging a book by its “leather” cover?
