Man’s attempt to help teen gets him fired

Jim Stanek’s relatives say he’s a really good guy, but he just got a giant kick in the gut.

This San Francisco Bart agent got fired, on his birthday, for giving away $300 in lost, unused (but paid-for!) tickets, to a friend’s grandson. It’s a 16-year-old boy, whose father died last year. He commutes to school on the train.

The unused tickets are supposed to go back into the general fund. Bart apparently already has a program for riders to donate unused tickets to charity. Wouldn`t want to overdo the generosity or anything!

Stanek may face charges for stealing Bart property.

Some might suggest a Bart boycott. Jump off the train and onto the bandwagon until Jim gets rehired and the kid gets his rides for free. Because this is stupid.
