Experience News in a New Way
Americans, we have a problem! One third of our population is already obese and by 2030 it is estimated that 42% of all American adults will fit into this category. This is bad. This is very bad.
“Ten percent of the expenditure on health care is tied up in this group of individuals that are obese”, said John Higgins, M.D., cardiologist at the UT Health Medical School. “We are starting to see more and more of the deceases associated with obesity in them as they get older like coronary decease, stroke and cancer”, he added.
We are a great country, with a powerful army and a strong economy, but we are more overweight than any other place on Earth. “I think it’s a combination of the basics”, explained Dr. Higgins. “That is poor diet as well as lack of adequate exercise”.
From now on we should run for our lives. It is time to rebel against unhealthy food and sedentary lifestyles. Here Dr. Higgins gives us some tips:
“Do some exercises every day. Try to eat fish at least once or twice a week. Forget about the sodas and go with water. Eat at least one piece of fruit and one vegetable every day. And avoid pre-frozen dinners and these other fast food chains where they produce a lot of saturated fat”.
This is not a joke. This is our life. Let’s make it last.
