Texas surgeon’s live-tweet brain surgery

If you think social media is too invasive, how do you feel about live tweets and video feeds during brain surgery?

It happened Wednesday at Memorial Herman.

Dr. Dong Kim, the same guy who operated on Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, carved a tumor out of a 21-year-old woman’s brain, all while a team of shooters and tweeters stood by. Every few minutes, they published updates, pictures and videos of the operation’s progress.

We should probably get used to this kind of thing. Back in February, the hospital tweeted an open heart surgery.

The hospital says it’s all in the name of education.
