Experience News in a New Way
Newsweek magazine released the cover for its latest issue hitting newsstands on May 21st, which features a stately President Obama looking off into the distance with a heavenly looking “gaylo” floating over his head. The caption under the picture reads: The First Gay President.
Of course, Newsweek isn’t talking about Obama’s sexual orientation; the title refers to the President’s political orientation. Namely, his recent endorsement of same-sex marriage.
Much like how Nobel Prize winner Toni Morrison first called Bill Clinton “the first black president” because of how Clinton related to the African-American community, Obama’s new title comes from how homosexuals see the President.
But some Obama opponents aren’t buying it. They’re seeing the President’s same-sex stance as an election year ploy to get the gay vote and then not push their policy after his ballot is cast.
