Swimmers urine blamed for death of 500 fish

Okay, admit it…you’ve peed in the water when you’re swimming. But this story might make you think twice about taking a leak in the lake.

500 fish are dead in a German lake near Hamburg and officials think urinating swimmers could be to blame.

Deadly pee-pee? Really?!

Guess it has something to do with the amount of phosphate in your pee.

The urine itself doesn’t harm the fish, but sets off a series of environmental events that can suffocate them.

In this particular German lake, officials calculate about a half a liter of urine per swimmer each day!

Poor little fishies!

So next time you gotta go… Try to find a real bathroom!
