Fewer Americans view themselves as pro-choice

As we all know, abortion is a very controversial subject, no matter which side of the issue you choose to stand on.

It turns out fewer Americans identify themselves as Pro-Choice, believing in abortion rights… about 42%.

About 50% view themselves as Pro-Life according to a Gallup poll.

But does it mean the views on this touchy subject have really changed?

Not necessarily.

It may just mean people see the controversy of abortion as far more complicated as the titles suggest, and may not want to be identified strictly as Pro-Choice or Pro-Life.

52% of Americans still think abortion should be legal in certain situations.

Texas has some of the most restrictive abortion laws, requiring doctors to perform a sonogram and then describe the state of the fetus 24 hours before a woman can get an abortion.

This is an issue that is strongly divided, no matter what you choose to call yourself, and an issue that is very personal.  It’s also an issue that’s going to be around for a while.
